At AbleBooks, our mission is to create and share inclusive, accessible, and empowering storybooks for children and students with disabilities, particularly in Nigeria. We aim to publish at least three new storybooks every year, distribute over 5,000 printed and digital copies, and set up 100 book clubs across schools and communities, each guided by trained AbleChampions who support the love for reading and connection.
We also turn our books into sign language videos and other local languages so more children can enjoy and understand them.
Our gallery captures the heart of AbleBooks, from children exploring our storybooks for the first time, to book club sessions led by our amazing AbleChampions, to vibrant school visits and library donations. Each photo tells a piece of our journey, showing just how powerful inclusive stories can be.
We align our work with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). So far, we’ve reached over 50 schools, distributed thousands of books, and established growing book clubs in several communities. These images are more than memories, they’re proof that stories can open doors, create change, and help build a world where no child is left behind.
Our Book Buddies are adult volunteers who guide and support our book clubs. As a Book Buddy, you will help coordinate sessions, encourage discussions, and create a welcoming, inclusive environment where children with disabilities can engage with different storybooks and novels.
