Our books found a new home in Adamawa State.
Volunteer Steven Villa and his Adamawa State partner, Chidinma Paul, visited LCCN School for the Deaf in Jimeta, Yola North LGA, completing AbleBooks' latest outreach in the region. The donated books were received warmly by the school principal, who ensured they went straight where they belong, into the school library, ready for students to pick up and read.
For many deaf students in Nigeria, a school library is one of the few places where reading happens on their own terms, at their own pace, without pressure or noise. When books that actually reflect their world land on those shelves, something shifts. It is no longer just a library. It becomes a place where a student can see themselves in a story for the first time.
That is what this visit was about. Not just a donation, but a quiet, deliberate act of saying: these children deserve stories too.
