The Book Club Project brings children with disabilities together to read, share, and connect through inclusive storybooks. Our goal is simple: to build safe spaces where children feel seen, heard, and valued, one story at a time. These clubs are more than just reading groups; they are joyful spaces where kids build confidence, improve their literacy skills, and form meaningful friendships.
Each club is guided by a Book Buddy, a trained adult volunteer who leads fun reading sessions, encourages discussions, and helps the children explore the messages in each story. The books we use are specially written to reflect real-life experiences of children with disabilities, in a way that’s easy to understand, uplifting, and empowering. For children who are deaf or hard of hearing, we also provide sign language video versions to ensure no one is left behind.
We’ve already started clubs in several schools and communities, with more on the way. As the clubs grow, so does the impact, children become more confident, more curious, and more excited about learning. We’re building a generation of young readers who know they belong, and we’re doing it one book, one club, one smile at a time.
